By the next Carnival, locals were already dressing and dancing like the Bijagós dancers. The Mandingas became a part of Mindelo’s Carnival, thanks to the well-known Capote. Since then, the Mandingas have continued to thrive, particularly in recent years, with the Ribeira Bote community as a shining example.
